From the teachings of Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdur Raheem Sahab Dard (Rahmatullah Alaih)
Meaning
Al-Malik means the Sovereign, the King: the eternal Owner and Ruler of everything, with no partner in His kingdom. Every particle of every world is under His control. Those who accept His sovereignty are Muslims (those who submit), and those who reject it are kafirs (those who deny).
Understanding the Name
The Name comes from the root m-l-k, meaning ownership and authority. Allah opens a famous list of His Names with it: “He is Allah, other than whom there is no god: the Sovereign, the Pure, the Source of Peace…” (Al-Hashr 59:23). In Surah Al-Fatiha we call Him Maliki yawmid-din, the Master of the Day of Judgement, when all false claims of ownership will disappear and only His kingdom will remain.
Human kings rule for a short time, over limited lands, and they depend on others. Al-Malik’s rule is complete and never ends; He needs no one, while everyone needs Him. A believer who understands this stops chasing the approval of people and seeks only the pleasure of the true King.
Treatment (Amal)
Whoever recites “Yā Malik” 101 times after every prayer will, by Allah’s will, be made rich (self-sufficient). The condition is sincerity and full concentration.
