From the teachings of Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdur Raheem Sahab Dard (Rahmatullah Alaih)
Meaning
Al-Jaleel means the Majestic, the Sublime: the One who possesses all majesty, honour, power and holiness.
Understanding the Name
Al-Jaleel is the One whose majesty fills the heart with awe and reverence. Allah describes Himself as “Possessor of Majesty and Honour” (Ar-Rahman 55:27). His majesty is not harsh: the same Lord who is Majestic is also Most Merciful, and His greatness invites His servants to come closer, not to run away.
Feeling the majesty of Allah gives the believer dignity: he bows to no one but Al-Jaleel, and is not impressed by the false greatness of people.
Effects and reflections
The whole universe exists because of the Sublime One alone; countless signs of His majesty are visible in nature.
The Majestic Allah does not abandon His servants because of their sins. Rather, He says: “Until now you were a sinner! O My servant, now seek forgiveness and ask for My blessings.”
Treatment (Amal)
Whoever writes “Yā Jalīl” with saffron and keeps it with him, and recites it 83 times after every prayer, will, Insha’Allah, be blessed with honour, greatness and status.
