From the teachings of Hazrat Maulana Shah Abdur Raheem Sahab Dard (Rahmatullah Alaih)
Meaning
Ash-Shakoor means the Most Appreciative, the Rewarder of thankfulness: the One who values even the smallest good deed and rewards it many times over.
Understanding the Name
Allah does not need our worship, yet He appreciates every sincere act, multiplies its reward and increases His blessings on those who are grateful. He says: “Indeed, our Lord is Forgiving and Appreciative” (Fatir 35:34).
Gratitude, in turn, is the key that opens more blessings. The more a person thanks Allah with his heart, his tongue and his actions, the more Allah gives him.
Effects and reflections
Allah says in the Qur’an:
لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ
La’in shakartum la-azeedannakum: “If you are grateful, I will surely increase you” (Ibrahim 14:7).
Allah loves those servants who are thankful to Him and who glorify and praise Him. He raises them in rank until they are counted among His beloved ones.
The peace and satisfaction that come from reflecting on this quality of Allah cannot be expressed in words. It cannot be explained; it must be experienced personally by reciting “Yā Shakūr” sincerely and wholeheartedly.
Treatment (Amal)
Reciting “Yā Shakūr” is, Insha’Allah, beneficial for those caught in hardship, poverty and distress.
Reciting it 537 times after the Fajr prayer with sincerity will, Insha’Allah, fulfil the needs of the one in need.
