Treatment using name Al-Azeem

Meaning

Al-Azeem means the Magnificent, the Supreme in Glory: the One whose greatness is beyond all measure and imagination.

Understanding the Name

Allah’s greatness cannot be contained by the mind: the heavens and the earth are small before Him. Ayat al-Kursi ends with this Name: “And He is the Most High, the Magnificent” (Al-Baqarah 2:255). In every ruku‘ of prayer we say Subhana Rabbiyal ‘Azeem, “Glory be to my Lord, the Magnificent.”

When a believer truly senses Allah’s magnificence, the problems of this world become small, and his fear and hope become directed to Allah alone.

Effects and reflections

Allah alone is truly magnificent and great, in every horizon of the universe; He is the Creator of everything that exists.

To attribute such greatness to anything other than Allah is shirk, and to deny the greatness of Allah is kufr (disbelief). Accepting the Oneness of Allah (Tawheed), and understanding, witnessing and living by it, is the mark of His pious servants.

Those who realise this reflect something of this quality in themselves and make it visible to others. For example, the image of the sun in a mirror is not the real sun, yet onlookers still cannot bear its brightness. The brightness and heat of the sun are their own proof; staring at it continuously damages the eyes.
