Every individual and every community longs for the help of Allah. The Qur’an makes a clear promise: if you help the cause of Allah, He will help you and make your feet firm. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) explains what it means to “help Allah”, and which qualities and actions draw His nusrat (support).
The khutba turns the listener’s attention from complaining about circumstances to correcting one’s own relationship with Allah: obedience, sincerity, unity, patience and du‘a. When these are present, help comes from where one never expected.
Iman is not a fixed amount; it rises with obedience and remembrance and weakens with sin and heedlessness. In this Friday khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) calls the believers to work consciously on the strength of their faith, because it is iman that carries a person through trials, temptations and difficult times.
The khutba points to the means that nourish faith: salah with presence of heart, recitation of the Qur’an, dhikr, good company and reflection on the signs of Allah. A strong iman shows itself in steadfastness, courage and good character.
Islam gives the believer not only rulings but principles that shape an entire life. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) presents two golden principles for living, drawn from the Qur’an and the blessed life of the Prophet ﷺ, which bring order to a person’s relationship with Allah and with people.
The khutba shows how a few clear principles, held consistently, can protect a person from confusion and regret. It is a practical sermon for anyone who wants their days to count, at home, at work and in the community.
Almost everything we do can be done in two ways: for the pleasure of Allah or for the self; with honesty or with deceit; in a way that brings reward or in a way that brings sin. In this Friday khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) draws attention to these two faces of every action and to the choice that lies before the believer each time.
Eating, earning, speaking, using a phone or spending money: each can become worship or a cause of loss. The khutba teaches the listener to pause, correct the intention and choose the side that Allah loves.
A well-known saying of the early scholars teaches that “this knowledge is religion, so look carefully from whom you take your religion.” In an age of social media clips and self-styled speakers, this advice is more urgent than ever. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) warns against taking religious guidance from anyone and everyone.
The khutba encourages the listeners to connect with reliable ‘ulama, people of sound belief, piety and authentic chains of learning, and to be cautious of content that spreads doubt, division or novel ideas. Protecting one’s faith begins with choosing one’s teachers carefully.
In January 2022 the practice of Surya Namaskar became a topic of public discussion in India, including its promotion in educational institutions. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) explains the position of the Shariah on this practice and why it touches the most sensitive point of a Muslim’s faith: tawheed, the worship of Allah alone.
The khutba helps parents and students understand the difference between physical exercise, which Islam encourages, and acts that carry the meaning of worship or reverence for other than Allah. It calls on the community to protect the faith of its children with wisdom, knowledge and dignity.
Delivered on the last Friday of 2021, this khutba addresses a question many Muslim families face every December: how should a Muslim look at New Year celebrations? Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) guides the listeners to view the passing of time through the lens of the Qur’an, where the alternation of night and day is a sign for those who reflect.
Rather than imitating customs that are foreign to Islamic teachings and often involve wastefulness and sin, the khutba invites the believer to use the turning of the year for self-accountability: what did I gain for my Hereafter this year, and what will I change in the next?
Key lessons
Time as a trust from Allah
Imitation of customs foreign to Islam
Wastefulness and sin in popular celebrations
Self-accountability (muhasaba) at the end of the year
In times of confusion, a believer needs something firm to hold on to. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) calls the listeners to grasp firmly the two things that can never lead astray. The Prophet ﷺ left his ummah a clear guidance, and whoever holds on to it will not go astray.
The khutba explains that holding firmly means more than respect: it means learning, acting and living by this guidance in worship, family life, dealings and character. It is a call to return to the sources of guidance with seriousness, especially when the world around us is changing fast.
Allah created life and death to test which of us is best in deed. This simple truth changes the way a believer looks at wealth, poverty, health, illness, honour and difficulty. In this Friday khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) reminds the listeners that this world is dar al-imtihan, the place of examination, and that every condition we pass through is a question paper from Allah.
Seen this way, ease becomes a test of gratitude and hardship becomes a test of patience. The khutba urges the listener not to be deceived by the glitter of the world, nor to be broken by its trials, but to keep the final result in the Hereafter always in view.
Key lessons
Why Allah created life and death
Ease and hardship as two kinds of test
Gratitude and patience as the believer’s two wings
A believer lives in a world of asbab (means): medicine, work, money and effort. Islam asks us to use these means fully, but never to let our hearts rest on them. The real cause behind every cause is Allah, the Musabbib al-Asbab. In this khutba, Hazrat Maulana Shah Mohammed Jamal ur Rahman Sahab (DB) explains why the believer’s gaze must always rise above the means to the One who gives them their effect.
This balance protects a person from two extremes: abandoning effort in the name of trust, and placing trust in effort alone. When the heart is attached to Allah, success brings gratitude instead of pride, and failure brings patience instead of despair.
